Success Story #1
Richard & Martha Jacob
I started my business in 1985 and as retirement approached, I planned to sell my business to an employee. We entered into a written agreement in 2010 for a future sale only for the agreement to fall apart in 2019. With retirement now even closer in sight, it was time for a new plan. I took a class on selling a business, talked to other brokers and did research until my eyes crossed. One day, while talking with our financial advisor, he recommended that my wife and I meet Taralee Muhli at his office.
From that first meeting we were immediately impressed with Taralee’s knowledge, her open, straight forward approach, and her ability to explain a complicated process so that we could understand it; we immediately knew we were in good hands. We began to see exactly how well-versed Taralee was not only with the sale process but also corporate law, tax laws, and how to better represent our business through our less-than-detailed financial statements from a very old accounting system and messy inventory records. It wasn’t long before she was speaking our language and understanding the propeller sales and service business. Taralee worked with us to expand and organize the line items to produce more comprehensive financial reports. As we proceeded, Taralee had a very good network of outside resources to draw from if an odd situation presented itself.
Then the rollercoaster ride began. We received and accepted an offer from a buyer and due diligence commenced. I can say, without hesitation, that the sale would not have been completed if it had not been for Taralee. As a business owner there is an emotional connection that factors into the process and Taralee’s ability to remain a firm negotiator and therapist to us was put to the test several times.
Finally, due diligence and negotiations were finished, and a closing date was set. Taralee sat with all of us as the documents were signed and the champagne opened. We have total confidence and trust in Taralee. We are now retired and loving life and none of this would have been possible without Taralee, our broker, our advisor, our therapist, our friend.
